College Objectives

  1. To provide students with sound and solid knowledge in the professional disciplines of electrical engineering, electronic engineering electro-optical engineering, and computer science & information engineering, along with the required supporting knowledge of mathematics, science, and liberal education.
  2. To equip students with the skills needed in designing experimental projects, solving problems, arid organizing and presenting information in a both effective and efficient manner.
  3. To train our students to become future leaders in academia, government, and industry with a deep awareness of ethical responsibilities to our profession and society.
  4. To emphasize multidisciplinary and international activities in both teaching and research.
  5. To sustain a friendly, supportive, and diversified environment so as to facilitate all our students, faculty and staff to achieve excellence in academic research and university-industry cooperation as well.

 

Academic Programs

  The degree programs offered are mainly the 4-year Bachelor of Science (BS), Master of Science (MS), and Doctoral programs. The applicant must apply for one of following four majors (departments): Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering (Graduate Institute of Computer and Communication Engineering), Electro-Optical engineering, and Computer Science and Information Engineering.

   There are specific Master’s Programs for On-the-Job Students. The applicants must meet the working experience and other requirements imposed on these programs. The Electrical Engineering and Electronic Engineering Departments also offer Two-Year Continuing Education Programs. In addition, there is an Undergraduate Honors Program affiliated to the EECS College. The students enrolled in this program can select any of the four departments as their majors for graduation. A specific Gambian Information Technology Elite Program is designed for training the undergraduates from the Republic of Gambia.

 

International Programs

  • NTUT has been actively recruiting international students in recent years. Currently the international student population is over 160. Chinese language and Taiwanese culture courses are offered with contents specifically tailored to the overseas students. The University provides dormitory rooms to every foreign student and scholarships are generally available for academically qualified students.
  • Courses in the Gambian IT Program are Englishlectured. Most departments accept international students and offer professional courses in English when requested. The CSIE Department graduate student program is one of them.

 

Past, Present and Future

  • Situated in the center of Taipei City, Taiwan, NTUT was founded in 1912 as a pioneering academic institute for industrial education. It was promoted as Provincial Taipei Institute of Technology in 1948 and then National Taipei University of Technology in 1997. NTUT can be easily accessed by various public transportation systems in Taipei.
  • NTUT has an excellent reputation on her education quality. According to the most recent survey conducted annually among major corporations in Taiwan, in each of the past ten years, NTUT has stood out from more than 160 universities in Taiwan and was ranked second to ninth of the best universities cultivating first-rated talents.
  • To achieve the goal of integrating theoretical knowledge and practical applications, every undergraduate student in this EECS College is required to do a Senior Project and every graduate student has to do a Master or Doctoral thesis.
  • The Sunlight Electronics Laboratory-Funded Foundation in the university supports paper publications, international conferences, and outstanding research works.
  • College Distinguished Teaching Award and College Distinguished Research Award granted annually arc aiming at promoting outstanding teaching and research.
